BUDAPEST, February 14. /TASS/. Russia will be once again fully integrated into the global economic system and European security after the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said in an interview with Kossuth Radio.
Orban confirmed that he is pinning his hopes on US President Donald Trump, who plans to meet with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement on ending the conflict in Ukraine. "I believe that if the US president reaches an agreement [on Ukraine] at the peace negotiating table, Russia will be once again reintegrated into the global economy and the European security system," he said.
Orban also recalled that Hungary has long advocated the lifting of sanctions against Russia, which cause great damage to the European economy, including by causing an increase in energy prices.
Therefore, he explained, the integration of Russia into the European economy, including the European energy system, "will give a huge boost to the Hungarian economy."
