Number of energy sites affected by Ukrainian strikes in Bryansk Region double

According to the Region's Governor Alexander Bogomaz, 212 sites sustained damage

BRYANSK, March 25. /TASS/. Ukrainian forces caused damage to 212 energy facilities in Russia’s Bryansk Region in 2024, twice as many as in 2023; their protection is an ongoing battle, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said on his Telegram channel.

"The number of cases of the enemy attacking energy facilities has risen twofold in the past year - 212 sites sustained damage. Multi-millions in losses were registered due to fire from Ukrainian militants. Extensive work is being done to protect the Bryansk Region’s energy facilities," the governor wrote, following his meeting with Fyodor Kapshukov, director of the Bryanskenergo division at the Rosseti Centre, PJSC.

During the meeting, officials discussed the future development of the region’s electrical grid and ongoing efforts to modernize public lighting. "Despite the region’s border location and the associated challenges, the local power grid operator continues to ensure reliable operation and development of the distribution network. As a result, the number of technical failures has decreased in 2024," Bogomaz noted.

Moreover, according to the governor, the work to modernize external lighting continues. Over the two years of the implementation of the project, 15,700 new street-lamps have been installed, with 181 streets receiving lighting that never had them before. "The next step is installing new energy-efficient lamps in the territories of the region’s educational (451 sites) and healthcare (65 sites) facilities. A total of 330 million rubles from the regional budget will be needed for the project," the governor stated.
