MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Moscow is ready to work with London, including in the economic field, but only if the feeling is mutual, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his combined annual press conference and question-and-answer session.
"Yes, there is the issue of inflation, and we will continue to address it. However, we are growing economically and are fourth globally in terms of purchasing power parity. Please tell your readers about that," Putin said in response to a question from a BBC journalist. "We rank first in Europe, having left Great Britain far behind. As far as I remember, Great Britain is not even in the top five. Still, we are ready to work with Great Britain if Great Britain is willing to work with us," he maintained.
Putin stressed that if that did not happen, Russia would be fine "without our former allies in the anti-Hitler coalition."
According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in 2023, the Russian economy was fourth in the world in gross domestic product (GDP) adjusted for purchasing power parity (3.5%). Russia is followed by Japan (3.5%) and Germany (3.2%). China (18.8%), the US (15%) and India (7.9%) top the list. Data from the World Bank also confirms that Russia is fourth in the global ranking.
