Russia sees positive changes in cooperation with Abkhazia — Putin

As the Russian president noted, Russia and Abkhazia have developed relations that go beyond those of mere good neighbors

SUKHUM, April 3. /TASS/. Russia sees positive changes taking place in cooperation with Abkhazia, particularly in transport, modernization of tourism infrastructure, energy, agriculture and trade, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"We are now seeing positive results of joint work in the modernization of transport and tourism infrastructure, in the energy sector, agriculture and trade. The Russian-Abkhaz partnership is comprehensive in nature, and it is therefore important to continue to act energetically across all promising areas and promote projects in various industries," the president said in a message to participants of the International Economic Forum "Abkhazia — Investments in the Future," which was read out by First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration Sergey Kiriyenko.

As the Russian president noted, Russia and Abkhazia have developed relations that go beyond those of mere good neighbors.

"We are elevating mutually beneficial cooperation and integration ties to a new level and sincerely strive to ensure that Abkhazia becomes a modern state comfortable for living and work," Putin said.

The International Economic Forum "Abkhazia — Investments in the Future" is being held in Sukhum on April 3-4. The forum brings together heads of government bodies responsible for economic development, guests from near and far abroad, primarily from the Russian Federation, including officials from several Russian regions and heads of federal executive authorities.
