Lawmaker says special operation in Ukraine has entered new phase

"No doubt, Russia as of today has embarked on a new phase of the special military operation. And we will act even more decisively," Viktor Bondarev stressed

MOSCOW, October 10. /TASS/. Viktor Bondarev, head of the Federation Council’s Defense and Security Committee, on Monday said he believes the massive strike on Ukraine’s energy, military and telecom facilities that followed the Crimean bridge blast marks the start of a new phase of Russia’s special operation.

"No doubt, Russia as of today has embarked on a new phase of the special military operation. And we will act even more decisively," he said on Telegram.

A truck exploded on the Crimean Bridge on Saturday morning, causing several fuel tanks of a train to catch fire. Three people were killed in the blast. Two spans of the bridge’s roadway to the peninsula collapsed. Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Russian Investigative Committee, classified the incident as a terrorist attack perpetrated by Ukrainian special services. The railway traffic across the Crimean Bridge has been restored. Also, a ferry service has started to operate.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an urgent Security Council meeting on Monday that a massive strike had been inflicted on Ukrainian energy, military command and communications facilities and warned Kiev that if Ukraine tried to continue terrorist attacks in Russia, they would be met with a tough response.
