MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. More than 2.6 million people in seven Russian regions will take part in the online voting for the September elections, head of the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) Ella Pamfilova said on Wednesday.
"There are 2,650,339 applications included on the voter list which means those who can cast their ballots with the distance online voting. They will be taken down the lists on their traditional voting stations and written in the list of those who can vote online," she said.
She added that 2,014,765 people had chosen this method in Moscow, while 301,991 people will vote online in the Rostov Region (including Russian citizens living in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics).
Elections to the 8th Russian State Duma (lower house) are scheduled for September 19, 2021, known as the Single Voting Day. The balloting process will span three days - September 17, 18, and 19. In addition to the State Duma elections, voters will go to the polls to cast ballots for the heads of nine Russian regions (in another three regions local legislatures will elect top executive officials) and in elections for 39 regional parliaments.
