Leadership not in promising "manna from heaven" but in making crucial decisions - Putin

Leadership means to make responsible and crucial for the country decisions, Russian President said

MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. Political leadership means to make necessary for the country decisions, but it is also important to discuss them with the public, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary meeting of the United Russian party on Saturday.

"Leadership does not mean to promise manna from heaven, which would appear from somewhere. Leadership means to make responsible and crucial for the country decisions," he said.

"Along with this, certainly, [we] must go to people and explain to them and talk straight with them, clarifying why this or that decision has been approved and why it is the best possible option for our country in our time," Putin said.

The president has pointed out that for many years United Russia has been demonstrating its worthiness and ability to make responsible decisions as well as to clarify those decisions to the public, "and then participate in elections and persuade a voter that the earlier approved decisions are correct and that the way, which we have outlined, is the only one."

Putin concluded that this leadership is a colossal advantage to achieve dynamic and meaningful transformations.

"Only such a breakthrough can ensure a drastic improvement in life standards and citizens’ welfare, to defend sovereignty and strengthen it and to get Russia to take a well-deserved place in tomorrow’s world," he concluded.
