MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. Some 440 relief workers and 217 pieces of equipment are grappling with the aftermath of a dam burst in Orsk, a city in the Orenburg Region located south of the Urals, with 135 people currently staying in temporary accommodation centers, the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS.
"The evacuation of residents is ongoing. So far, 135 people have been evacuated to temporary accommodation centers, including 55 children," the ministry said.
"A total of some 440 relief workers and 217 pieces of equipment, including 30 watercraft and a floating transporter, are taking part in the relief effort," the ministry added.
A section of a dam in Orsk burst on Friday, so the city’s residents are being evacuated, as more than 4,200 homes and almost 11,000 people may be affected by rising flood water, the regional government told TASS earlier.
