Share of national currencies in commercial deals between CIS countries exceeds 85% — Putin

According to the Russian president, cooperation between CIS states in the currency and financial area is expanding

IGORA /Leningrad Region/, December 25. /TASS/. The share of national currencies in commercial transactions between member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has exceeded 85%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"The share of national currencies in payments on commercial transactions with member states of the Commonwealth exceeds 85%," Putin said as he opened an informal CIS summit.

"Cooperation between CIS states in the currency and financial area is expanding, with their own independent payment systems and payment tools being more and more frequently used for servicing mutual economic transactions," he said.

Russia’s trade turnover with CIS countries increased by 10.6% in January-October 2024 to slightly over $93 bln, Putin added.
