BEIJING, January 9. /TASS/. Chinese companies in 2023 increased oil production by about 1.5% to 208 mln tons, according to the State Energy Administration of China.
According to the report, the figure increased by 19 mln tons compared to 2018 or by 10%. Offshore fields, as noted, played a significant role in the growth of production.
In addition, China is actively developing shale oil reserves in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (northwest), in the Heilongjiang province bordering Russia (northeast) and in the eastern province of Shandong.
The statement noted that in 2023, China's onshore fields occupied a leading position in the world in oil and gas production at a depth of more than 6,000 meters.
