BELGRADE, November 11. /TASS/. Serbia supported Donald Trump during the US election more than any other European country, Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic said following his telephone conversation with the incoming White House chief.

"I just concluded a conversation with the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump. The conversation was excellent, warm, and, I should say, very informative. I am grateful to President Trump for being very well-informed about many issues concerning Serbia. You won’t believe it - he even mentioned Serbia’s sports successes," Vucic said in a video posted on his Instagram page (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as extremist in Russia).

"I took the opportunity to express our desire to further develop relations across all areas of public life. I expressed my hope that he will visit Serbia, as Serbia had the highest level of electoral support for Trump across all of Europe," the president emphasized, adding that Trump thanked him "for the tremendous support he received from the citizens of Serbia."

"I believe that in the near future, we will be able to discuss further enhancing our relations in all areas. I am confident that, with the support of our friends, including everyone in President Trump’s entourage who participated in the conversation, he will succeed in making America great, while we work to make Serbia a strong and worthy country, one that can cooperate very well with the United States," the head of state concluded.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s contender, in the November 5 election. The Republican Party took control of the Senate and is also expected to gain a majority in the House of Representatives. Trump’s inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
