Yandex recognized among global AI leaders — study

About twenty companies were assessed, such as Amazon, Tencent, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Yandex

MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Yandex is the lone Russian company in the rankings of world leaders in the artificial intelligence (AI) sphere, according to a study by the Epoch AI company completed in collaboration with researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Companies from Europe, China, and Russia were put under the microscope in the study. About twenty companies were assessed, such as Amazon, Tencent, Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Yandex. Researchers built the rankings using such parameters as the number of academic publications, the impact of said publications, machine-learning of AI models and contributions to the development of AI algorithms.

According to the study, Google, OpenAI and Meta [recognized as extremist in Russia] made the greatest contribution to AI development across all metrics. Yandex was placed in the middle of the pack among the AI giants.
