Russian Pacific Fleet ships call at Myanma port for upcoming naval drills

Mutual visits to combat ships by the personnel of both countries, sports and cultural events are planned

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. A naval group of the Russian Pacific Fleet made a business call at the port of Thilawa in Myanmar ahead of the first joint naval maneuvers, the Fleet’s press office reported on Thursday.

"A Pacific Fleet naval group consisting of the large anti-submarine warfare ships Admiral Tributs and Admiral Panteleyev has made a business call at the port of Thilawa in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar," the press office said in a statement.

During the business call, the Russian warships will take part in the ceremony of opening the first Russia-Myanmar joint naval exercise. Also, mutual visits to combat ships by the personnel of both countries, sports and cultural events are planned, it added.

The business call by the Russian warships will last until November 7, the press office reported.
