Military delegation from Serbia to observe post-Soviet security bloc drills

YEKATERINBURG, November 1. /TASS/. A military delegation from Serbia will observe the international drills of the Joint Peacemaking Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) members dubbed "Enduring Brotherhood-2018," which are being held near Yekaterinburg, the joint press center of the exercise told journalists on Thursday.

According to the press center, the delegation arrived in Yekaterinburg today. The delegates will observe the active phase of the maneuvers, which will take place on November 2 at the Sverdlovsky Range near Yekaterinburg.

During the active phase of the drills the national contingents of the CSTO countries will hold a peacemaking operation on the territory of the "state," which is not a CSTO member, under the UN resolution.

"The servicemen will work out a number of joint tasks to control the observation of the ceasefire agreement in the responsibility zone and provide help in restoring peaceful life on the territories that suffered from attacks of international terrorist organizations," the press center specified.

The military contingents from six CSTO member states - Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan - as well as an operation group of the CSTO Joint Headquarters, police forces and departments of the emergencies ministries of these countries are taking part in the "Enduring Brotherhood-2018," which started on October 30 and will run until November 2 in the Sverdlovsk Region. Russia is represented by servicemen from the Central Military District. About 1,300 people in total are taking part in the maneuvers, along with 300 vehicles, 20 aircraft, including unmanned aerial vehicles. Representatives for the International Committee of the Red Cross are also taking part in the drills.
