MOSCOW, October 16 (Itar-Tass) — The leader of the Just Russia faction in the lower house of parliament, Sergei Mironov, expressed confidence that his party will not only get seats in the new State Duma, but will also increase its representation.
“Our party steadily passes the barrier and our opponents who publish some pseudo ratings know this,” he said in an interview with Russia One channel on Saturday.
Mironov underlined that the party’s current rating is 9 percent.
“We have no problems and cannot have them,” the Just Russia leader added. “I have no doubts that our party will not only overcome the threshold to enter the State Duma, but will also increase its seats.”
During the State Duma debates on lowering the election barrier from 7 percent to 5 percent Just Russia insisted that this measure should enter into force at the upcoming elections.
“We care about a real political competition,” Mironov said making clear that this has no relation to the party’s rating.
