Ukrainian lawmaker calls on Zelensky to apologize to Trump following aid suspension

According to Alexey Goncharenko, the Ukrainian authorities should now "turn off emotions and turn on reason"

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The suspension of US aid to Ukraine is a disaster, Vladimir Zelensky should apologize to US President Donald Trump, Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring) said.

"This is a disaster <...>. Now we must not point fingers, but work. Solve the problem with the Trump administration: if they want our apology, we have to apologize," Goncharenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities should now "turn off emotions and turn on reason." "We are completely dependent on the US, and we need to play together with Trump, not against him," the lawmaker pointed out.

Goncharenko opined that Ukraine also needs "a plan on how to survive without US aid." He also pointed out that this time the plan should be concrete, not another empty "victory plan" as suggested by Zelensky. "The situation is not lost yet. We can still get out of it, not with as big a loss as it seems," the lawmaker emphasized, adding that for this Zelensky should stop fighting for political ratings.

On February 28, Zelensky arrived at the White House for a meeting with US President Donald Trump. During the conversation in the presence of journalists, an argument broke out between them, during which Trump pointed out Zelensky’s disrespectful attitude towards the United States, and US Vice President JD Vance emphasized Zelensky’s ungratefulness to Washington for the support provided to Kiev. The press conference following their meeting was canceled, and the signing of a US-Ukraine mineral deal did not take place. At the same time, Zelensky did not apologize for his actions and words, considering that he had not done "something bad."

On March 3, Reuters quoted a White House official as saying that Trump had ordered the suspension of all military aid deliveries to Kiev. A Pentagon spokesman later confirmed the information to TASS.
