Palestinian factions meet in Moscow, seek national unity — statement

The factions condemned an Israeli attack that took place earlier on the outskirts of Gaza City, killing the dozens of people

CAIRO, February 29. /TASS/. Palestinian factions convened for a meeting in Moscow and called for national unity to put an end to Israeli occupation and resist outside forces supporting Israel in Gaza, according to Hamas.

"The factions that were gathered are united in their desire to protect the Palestinian people and they underscore the need for national unity to do away with the occupation and confront the external forces supporting it, especially the United States, and in order to exercise the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their own independent state," Hamas, one of the main Palestinian parties, said in a special statement.

The factions condemned an Israeli attack that took place a few hours ago on the outskirts of Gaza City, killing the dozens of people. According to the Palestinian factions, "this crime is a blatant aggression and a challenge to the decisions of the UN International Court of Justice and the international community."
