The presentation of the culture and traditions of the southern Chinese province of Hainan was held on Thursday at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), TASS correspondent reports from the scene. The event is a joint initiative of TASS agency and the leadership of the southern province of China to present the opportunities of Hainan on the sidelines of SPIEF.
“Hainan pays great attention to international cultural exchanges and cooperation, including with Russia,” said the head of the information department of the propaganda department of the party's provincial committee Wang Lei at the presentation. "The authorities are developing culture and tourism, hold international events - the beauty pageant "Miss World", the regatta, cycling competitions around the world."
Wang Lei noted that "Russia has cultural heritage." "I hope that Hainan and the Russian side will strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in the cultural sphere," he stressed. The presentation included Marat Abdulkhatin, First Deputy Chief Editor at TASS, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee Sun Dahai, representatives of the Hainan provincial leadership and other honored guests.
The National Ensemble of Songs and Dances of the Hainan Province performed at the event. The traditional Chinese musical instruments - erhu, nose flute and bamboo quiver - the artists performed several classical compositions telling about the life in the province.The composition "Moscow Nights" performed on national instruments became a surprise for those present. At the end of the concert, the ensemble presented the dance, which tells about the harvest of rice and Chinese girls' hope for a happy future.
The 2019 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is being held on June 6-8. The forum’s motto this year is “Creating a Sustainable Development Agenda”.
