MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. An explosion and a fire occurred in the Alania Mall shopping center in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia’s North Caucasus region of North Ossetia, an emergency official told TASS.

According to the latest data, one person was killed.

Incident’s details

- An explosion rocked the Alania Mall shopping center on Wednesday morning, causing a fire.

- The blaze, categorized as a three-alarm fire, engulfed 800 square meters on the third floor and the roof.

- According to emergency services, the incident was caused by a household gas explosion.

- The fire has now been contained.

Casualties

- According to the latest data, a woman was killed.

- A spokesperson for the Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS that two people had been injured.

- There were no customers in the shopping mall at the time of the explosion and only personnel was affected.

- Rescuers are searching for potential casualties but heavy smoke is complicating their work.
