Russian engineers arrive in Syria to examine hydroelectric power plant

MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. A team of Russian engineers has arrived in Syria to examine the Tabqa Dam in order to draft the plan of its repairs, said Maj. Gen. Oleg Yegorov, a deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Sides in Syria.

In his words, Russian specialists continue their effort to help restore the republic’s social infrastructure.

"As part of a UN program, a group of Russian engineers has arrived in Syria to carry out a comprehensive survey of the Tabqa Dam on the Euphrates River with the goal of drafting a plan of its repairs," Yegorov told reporters.

Russian Ambassador to Damascus Alexander Yefimov told an international conference on assisting the return of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons in November 2020 that Russia plans to rebuild up to 40 power generation facilities in Syria and improve the fresh water supply system in the country’s major cities.
