All five opposition figures detained the day before released in Abkhazia

Opposition spokesman Adgur Ardzinba added that he had personally called Civic Chamber member Sokrat Gingolia and thanked him for successful negotiations and cooperation in settling the situation

SUKHUM, November 12. /TASS/. Abkhazia’s political activist Almaskhan Ardzinba, the last of the five opposition figures detained the day before, has been released, opposition spokesman Adgur Ardzinba said.

Earlier, it was reported that Ramaz Dzhopya, Omar Smur, Aslan Gvaramya, and Garry Kokaya had been released.

"They have all been released," Ardzinba said.

He added that he had personally called Civic Chamber member Sokrat Gingolia and thanked him for successful negotiations and cooperation in settling the situation.

In turn, lawyer Ramina Pasanya told TASS that there is already a court decision regarding Almaskhan Ardzinba, Garry Kokaya and Ramaz Dzhopya, while the materials of the case against Omar Smur and Aslan Gvaramya have not been taken to court.

The five opposition figures were arrested on Monday evening, three of them for petty hooliganism. Their supporters soon gathered in Sukhum and blocked the bridges leading into the city. The opposition vowed to unblock the bridges if the authorities met their demands to release all previously detained activists. After they were all released, the activists unblocked the bridges.
