Administration of Gaza is intra-Palestinian affair — factions’ statement

The leading Palestinian factions condemned Israel's plans for displacing Palestinians from their lands, including in the Gaza Strip, for establishing more Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and for taking full control of the Islamic and Christian holy sites

RABAT, January 11. /TASS/. The administration of Gaza Strip issues is an internal Palestinian affair, reads a joint statement adopted at an urgent meeting of the leading Palestinian factions, including the radical Hamas movement, held on Thursday.

The administration of Palestinian affairs and the governance [of] the Gaza Strip [issues] is an internal Palestinian national affair. We will not allow the force of occupation (Israel - TASS) and its supporters to interfere or in any way impose guardianship over our people, the document posted on Hamas' Telegram channel says.

The factions condemned Israel's plans for displacing Palestinians from their lands, including in the Gaza Strip, for establishing more Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, and for taking full control of the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

As The Jerusalem Post reported earlier this month, Israel has no intention of establishing administrative control over the Gaza Strip. It plans to hand over power to the local administration after the military operation in the enclave is over. The plan, drafted by the military leadership under Defense Minister Yoav Galant, would integrate the existing civilian administrative structures in Gaza into a broader "local government" that would not include any supporters of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which had been in full control of the enclave before the hostilities flared up.
