Erdogan to push for Israel's international isolation amid its operation in Gaza

Turkey has repeatedly expressed the willingness to act as a guarantor in resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas

ANKARA, November 15. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pledged efforts to isolate Israel internationally over its military operation in the Gaza Strip.

"We will expand our diplomatic contacts. We will engage both with the 121 countries [who voted for the resolution on the Middle East] and the other 40 countries [who abstained from voting]. We will continue to work toward isolating Israel internationally and support [the Gaza Strip] with all sorts of humanitarian assistance. We’ll take steps to have them (Israel - TASS) tried by international courts," the Turkish leader said, addressing the parliament.

Meanwhile, Turkey has repeatedly expressed the willingness to act as a guarantor in resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas. Ankara also suggested holding an international peace conference.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory. Hamas described its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ aggressive actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total siege of Gaza and started carrying out strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
