MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Roscosmos published photos of the damage to the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft, sustained after a collision with a meteoroid in December.
The images, provided by the state corporation for TASS, clearly show damage to the spacecraft’s external plating and a hole in it.
"The presence of this opening proves the cause of the incident - an external damage," Roscosmos said on its Telegram channel.
Earlier, Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov stated readiness to show the damage to the spacecraft to reporters.
On December 15, 2022, the Soyuz MS-22 sustained a depressurization of the temperature regulation system’s external radiator. After analyzing the situation, the state commission decided to land the damaged spacecraft unmanned, and take cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev , Dmitry Petelin and NASA astronaut Frank Rubio back to Earth on another spacecraft, the Soyuz MS-23. Space industry specialists performed their research and concluded that the Soyuz MS-22 was damaged by a sporadic meteoroid.
