MOSCOW, April 16 (Itar-Tass) - Moscow police detained members of a criminal group who had used a skimmer in an attempt to steal cash from an ATM, a spokeswoman said.
"Agents of the city police department for economic security and combating corruption /UEBiPK/ had been monitoring ATMs for a long time," UEBiPK spokeswoman Irina Volk told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
"Detectives nabbed the fraudsters as they were dismantling the skimmer. A search of a detainee's apartment found 402 plastic blanks for making fake bank cards and a computer with software to read the sensitive information gathered by means of the skimmer," Volk said.
Police said the detainees were involved in several similar crimes.
