VIENNA, March 15. /TASS/. Russia is making it a priority to work with countries of the Global South on international platforms, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told reporters on the sidelines of the 67th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
"You know, we are working primarily with representatives of what we call the Global South on this platform, just as on many other international platforms. And this is the majority of countries, these are the member-nations of the Nonaligned Movement, the majority of which are located in Asia, Africa, and Latin America," Vershinin said.
The Global South refers to African, Latin American and Caribbean nations, as well as Pacific islands and developing economies of Asia. China, India, Iran, the UAE and South Africa are considered to be the key nations of the Global South.
