Draft of Western resolution on Ukraine at UNGA remains anti-Russian — envoy

According to the Russian envoy, over the past year "it has become much more difficult for the Western camp to mobilize UN member countries in support of its crusade against Russia"

UNITED NATIONS, February 23. /TASS/. The Western resolution draft on Ukraine at the UN General Assembly remains anti-Russian and malicious, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said at a special session on Ukraine of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.

According to the Russian envoy, over the past year, "it became much more difficult for the Western camp to rally UN member countries to support its crusade against Russia." "This is also evidenced by the draft resolution emptied of all substance being put to a vote which nevertheless remains anti-Russian and malicious," he noted. The diplomat stressed that "chances to garner support for something more substantive under the conditions of the member states being better informed are much scarcer."

Nebenzya noted that the past year made obvious that the main element of the West’s "anti-Russian propaganda campaign" is "accusing Russia of unprovoked aggression against its neighbor, dictated by some imperial ambitions, aspirations to invade foreign territory and eliminate Ukraine as such." "It is possible to believe these absurd assertions only if one forgets the eight years preceding the onset of our special military operation," the Russian diplomat pointed out.

The session launched last year following the onset of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine resumed on Wednesday. It will issue a resolution supporting the conflict’s settlement based on a plan suggested by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
