BUDAPEST, February 20. /TASS/. Hungary opposes the new proposal by the EU leadership to provide Ukraine with a 20 bln euro aid package, as it believes that this money will only be used to continue the war, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said in an interview with M1 television channel.
He specified that the issue will be discussed on February 24 at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.
According to him, "this proposal was prepared by the pro-war liberal leadership of Europe and is aimed at forcing the peoples of European states to pay for the continuation of the war" and "at avoiding an agreement that is not very beneficial for them [EU leadership], which could be reached during peace talks."
The EU leadership plans to provide these funds to Ukraine in order to continue military actions and make peace impossible, the Hungarian minister believes.
"We do not intend to accept this proposal on Monday. We will not support it because we do not want 20 billion euros of European public money to be paid to Ukraine to continue the war," Szijjarto warned.
