MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. State Duma members back the opinion of the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade that the departure of foreign companies from Russia created huge opportunities for development of the national industry, Speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament Vyacheslav Volodin told reporters.

Russia is not "waiting with open arms" for foreign companies that left the country to come back, Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov told reporters earlier on the sidelines of the Future Technologies Forum.

"Short-sighted decisions of foreign companies to leave Russia had the boomerang effect - they, other than we, sustained losses," the speaker said. "Our industry has successfully adapted to evolved conditions and gained good rates of development. This is evidenced by growth of economic indicators. It will be difficult to return to our market now," Volodin noted.

This covers the entire manufacturing sector, the senior lawmaker said. Emptied niches "were taken by the Russian business long ago" and the industrial output grew by 4.6% last year, he added.
