Lavrov says no serious US proposals for talks on Ukraine so far

The top diplomat also slammed as lies US allegations that Russia is refusing to take part in talks on Ukraine

MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Moscow has so far not received any serious proposals for talks on Ukraine from Washington, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Rossiya-1 television on Tuesday.

"We have not yet received any serious proposals for contact. We were approached by some, not quite seriously though, and we did not reject those approaches either, but offered to formulate specific proposals with which those people could contact us through indirect channels. We never received any more specifics from anyone," Russia’s top diplomat said.

Lavrov also slammed as lies US allegations that Russia is refusing to take part in talks on Ukraine. "We have heard statements by US officials, including the White House’s Mr. [John] Kirby, my counterpart [Antony] Blinken, and other administration officials, saying they are open to talks with Russia while seeking a political solution to the situation in and around Ukraine, but that Russia is so evil that it has refused to negotiate. I can tell you outright that those are lies," the Russian foreign minister emphasized.
