MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Some countries have been floating the idea of expelling Russia from the United Nations Security Council but it's impractical, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"As for the initiative to strip Russia of its membership in the Security Council and even in the General Assembly, such ideas, which are poorly thought out, not to say cranky, have been put forward by Ukraine, in particular. However, it’s just unrealistic," he pointed out.
According to the deputy foreign minister, the procedures that such an activity requires make it impossible. "We oppose ill-conceived, let alone dangerous decisions on this set of issues," Vershinin added.
