MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. Deputy chief of Berdyansk’s traffic police Alexander Kolesnikov died of wounds sustained earlier on Friday in a blast committed by Ukrainian saboteurs, the city’s administration reported on Friday.

"The deputy chief of Berdyansk’s traffic police has died of wounds sustained in an explosion," the administration’s statement on its Telegram channel reads. According to updated information, an explosive device contained projectiles and was attached to a tree near a health center where refugees from Mariupol were residing. The statement noted that an athletic field was located nearby but luckily no children were on it at the time of the blast.

"The investigation’s main version is that this was a terror attack aiming to kill and terrorize the residents of Berdyansk and the refugees from Mariupol since the criminals opted for a socially dangerous type of assassination while deceased Alexander Kolesnikov happened to be in that location by accident," the statement said.
