Over 2,000 hectares cleared of mines by Russian specialists in DPR and LPR — ministry

Mine action center specialists use the most advanced tools, including Uran-6 robotized demining systems

MOSCOW, May 27. /TASS/. Mine disposal specialists from the Russian defense ministry’s international mine action center have cleared of mines a territory of 2,162 hectares in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) and destroyed more than 7,000 explosive objects, the Russian foreign ministry said on Friday.

"By today, an area of 2,162 hectares has been cleared of mines, 35 buildings and 7.6 kilometers of roads have been surveyed. As many as 7,756 explosive objects have been found and destroyed," it said.

According to the ministry, bomb specialists first examine water, energy and heat supplies facilities, healthcare institutions, bridges and roads, and apartment blocks to ensure the soonest return of civilians.
