Ukraine puppeteered by US, UK at talks with Russia, Lavrov says

The top diplomat pointed out that the West wanted the conflict to drag on to inflict heavier damage to Russia and its Armed Forces

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. Ukraine has been stage-managed by Washington and London throughout its talks with Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Tuesday.

"We have been receiving information through various channels that the Ukrainian negotiators have been controlled, their freedom of maneuver has been determined by Washington and London," Lavrov told the New Horizons educational marathon conference organized by the Russian Znanie (Knowledge) society, adding that their emissaries might be based in Ukraine.

Washington, London, and Brussels announced that their goal is to defeat Russia. "We have been providing all [these] facts through the Defense Ministry on a daily basis," Lavrov said. "But they want the conflict to drag on" to inflict heavier damage to Russia and its Armed Forces, he added.
