About 10,100 houses still partially flooded in Russia’s Orenburg Region

The government said that 6,127 people, including 1,478 children, had been evacuated from the flooded area

ORENBURG, April 8. /TASS/. The water has subsided from 311 residential homes and over 1,700 household plots over the past 24 hours, with about 10,100 houses remaining partially flooded amid spring floods in the Orenburg Region, the press service of the region’s government reported.

"Over the past day, the water has receded from 311 residential houses and 1,733 household plots, where 1,718 people are registered, including 349 children. As of the morning of April 8, 10,168 residential houses and 18,471 household plots remain flooded," it said.

The government said that 6,127 people, including 1,478 children, had been evacuated from the flooded area. Of these, 1,213 people, including 210 children, are staying at 33 temporary accommodation centers. As many as 570 heads of cattle have been moved out of the flooded areas to safety.

In Orsk, 6,641 residential houses and the same number of homestead plots were flooded. More than 2,000 people were evacuated, including 689 children. Sixteen temporary accommodation centers have been opened, and are currently housing 1,375 people, including 249 children.
