Foul weather leaves over half million customers without power in Donetsk People’s Republic

About 190,000 residential consumers are without power in the city of Donetsk, Mayor Alexey Kulemzin said

DONETSK, November 27. /TASS/. Harsh winds and torrential rainfall have left 525,000 residential consumers without power across nearly all districts of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the regional Coal and Energy Ministry said in a statement.

"Over 40 high-voltage substations, 110 kV overhead power lines, and eighteen 35 kV high-voltage power lines were taken off-line as of the morning of November 27 following a raging overnight squall, in which hurricane-force winds broke large tree branches, knocked down trees and damaged power lines. As many as 525,000 [customers] have been left without electricity," the statement reads.

About 190,000 residential consumers are without power in the city of Donetsk, Mayor Alexey Kulemzin said.

DPR Head Denis Pushilin wrote on Telegram that, "power utility engineers are carrying out emergency repairs, making every possible effort to restore power supplies as soon as possible."

According to the DPR branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, hurricane-force winds of up to 30 meters per second and snowfalls are expected in the region on November 27-28.
