MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russia expects that the change of the project operator will lead to the restoration of production at Sakhalin-1, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week.
"Yes, we certainly believe that this project should remain operational, it is important for the country, for the Sakhalin region. Oil and gas production should be restored," he said.
Earlier on October 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to create a new operator for the Sakhalin-1 production sharing agreement (PSA) project, which will receive rights and responsibilities of project participants and Exxon Neftegas Limited, the project operator.
