BRUSSELS, November 11. /TASS/. European Union (EU) High Representative Josep Borrell visited the first defense line of the Ukrainian army during his farewell trip to Ukraine, the EU chief wrote on the X social network.
"I had the opportunity to visit frontline defense fortifications close to the border, where I witnessed the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian army," he said, adding that "more and faster military support is crucial" for Kiev.
Borrell did not specify which of Ukraine’s borders he had actually seen. A photo published as evidence shows Borrell in a tidy wooden room, surrounded by people in camouflage-colored uniforms.
Borrell will leave his post on December 1, 2024. He will be succeeded by former Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, whose appointment will be formally approved by the European Parliament in Brussels on November 12.
