DUBAI, February 20. /TASS/. Hundreds of educational establishments have been destroyed by Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the Al Jazeera television channel reported.

According to the TV channel, more than 500 schools, universities and colleges have been ruined due to Israeli strikes, depriving thousands of Gazans of opportunities to receive education.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave. Hostilities continued until January 19, 2025 when a Egypt-, Qatar-, and US-mediated ceasefire came into force.
