Israel attacks Houthi targets in Yemen 'on behalf of entire int’l community' — Netanyahu

According to the Israeli prime minister, the Houthis are not attacking Israel only, they are threatening the entire world as they attack the international shipping and commercial lanes

TEL AVIV, December 19. /TASS/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned all who are seeking to harm Israel that they will have to pay a "very heavy price" and said that it is acting in the interests of the entire world community when it attacks Houthi targets in Yemen.

"This morning, the [Israeli] Air Force attacked strategic targets of the Houthis in the port of Hodeidah and deep into Yemen. We did this in response to repeated Houthi attacks against civilian targets in Israel. Last night they attacked a school in Ramat Gan (Tel Aviv’s neighborhood - TASS)," he office quoted him as saying.

According to Netanyahu, the Houthis are not attacking Israel only, they are threatening the entire world as they attack the international shipping and commercial lanes. "Thus, when Israel takes action against the Houthis, it is acting on behalf of the entire international community. The Americans understand this very well, as do many others," he stressed.

After Israel’s military campaigns against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as following the change of power in Syria, "the Houthis are almost the last arm of Iran's axis of evil," the Israeli prime minister said. "They are finding out, and will find out, the hard way that whoever harms Israel - will pay a very heavy price."

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported in the early hours on Thursday that a missile launched from Yemen had been intercepted in central Israel. Its falling fragments seriously damaged a school building in Ramat Gan, a neighborhood in eastern Tel Aviv. After this incident, Israeli forces delivered airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, including energy infrastructure facilities in Sana.
