MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. Moscow needs to step up proactive efforts to explain the reasons behind its confrontation with the West and the Ukraine crisis, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said.
"We certainly need to do more with regard to proactively explaining the causes of the current confrontation between the West and Russia and the core reasons behind the crisis in Ukraine," he pointed out at a conference dubbed "Union State: Integration, Development, Trust."
The deputy foreign minister noted that the diplomatic missions of Russia and Belarus, guided by the decisions made by the two countries’ leaders, "are intensifying work on this track with the countries of the Global South, or the global majority, operating in close partnership and coordination; and this work should definitely be continued."
"Today, we can see that we are not only and not so much on the defensive - which is what the collective West is trying to make it look like - but we carry out proactive work," Galuzin stressed. "Strictly speaking, we talk about the global majority precisely because the majority of countries are unwilling to join the Western policy of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. Despite the toughest pressure from the West, the majority of countries are trying to boost relations with us in all fields including trade and the economy," he added.
