CAIRO, December 4. /TASS/. At least 45 Palestinians were killed when Israeli warplanes bombed two districts of the Gaza Strip, including the Al-Mawasi area in the south of the enclave, which the Israeli authorities recognize as a humanitarian zone, Palestine’s WAFA news agency reported.
According to the report, "Israeli aerial bombardment targeted makeshift camps for displaced Palestinians in the so-called Israeli-designated ‘humanitarian zone’" northwest of the city of Khan Younis. Around 20 people were killed, dozens more were wounded by shell fragments.
In a separate development, about 25 Palestinians were killed in another aerial attack, which targeted the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of the enclave’s administrative center, Gaza City. Dozens were wounded, and more remain trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Hostilities continue until now.
