MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. The common goal of Russia and OPEC is to ensure stability of the oil market to create favorable conditions for its participants, OPEC Secretary General Haitham al-Ghais said at a high-level meeting of the Russia-OPEC energy dialogue.
"Our common goal is to ensure market stability that will provide all favorable conditions for both producers and consumers of energy resources," he said.
The OPEC Secretary General noted that the organization highly values the strong relations with Russia that have developed over the past few years.
"They are based on mutual respect and interest in ensuring stability of the oil market. The Russian Federation, as I have repeatedly said both at closed meetings and at open events, is one of the main oil and gas producers," he said.
Al-Ghaith stressed that Russia also occupies a central place in the OPEC+ declaration of cooperation and in the efforts of the alliance countries as part of the Cooperation Charter.
"We seek to expand this Charter and include more and more countries," the OPEC Secretary General noted.
He also drew attention to the fact that the energy dialogue between OPEC and Russia provides for work in the short, medium and long term.
"The Russia-OPEC energy dialogue, as well as the declaration of cooperation and the Cooperation Charter, are aimed at ensuring the work of OPEC and Russia for the stability of the energy market in the future," al-Ghaith went on.
"Yes, it is cold in Moscow, but we immediately felt very warm as soon as our Russian colleagues met us," he stated.
In turn, OPEC Research Director Ayed al-Qahtani said that a technical meeting was held on November 15 as part of the Russia-OPEC energy dialogue. According to him, the parties agreed to continue exchanging views on the development of the oil market and environmental issues.
