CAIRO, November 6. /TASS/. President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas congratulated Donald Trump with his victory in the US presidential election and stated his readiness to work with him, Abbas’ office said in a statement, published by WAFA.
"The President of Palestine sent a congratulatory telegram to Donald Trump, in which he stated his readiness to work with the new US President for peace and security in the Middle East," the statement says.
Abbas wished the president-elect success and expressed his hope that "the United States, led by Trump, will support the Palestinian people’s right for self-determination and acquisition of its own state."
The presidential election in the United States wrapped up on the morning of November 6 (Moscow time). The official outcome has not been announced yet, but, according to Fox News, Trump secured 277 electoral votes, with 270 necessary for victory. He has already declared himself the 47th President of the United States. House Speaker Mike Johnson called him a president-elect. Trump has already started receiving congratulations from foreign leaders. In addition to the President and Vice President, US voters also elected one third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives and governors of 11 states and 2 territories.
