German company Helsing launches production of AI-equipped drones for deliveries to Kiev

As the company notes, advanced on-board AI enables full electronic warfare and jamming resistance, capabilities developed and tested through Helsing’s extensive experience in Ukraine

BERLIN, December 2. /TASS/. German company Helsing has begun production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology for deliveries to Ukraine, the new drone is called HX-2.

"HX-2 is already in production and the core technology is currently deployed in Ukraine," the company said in a press release.

As the company notes, advanced on-board AI enables full electronic warfare and jamming resistance, capabilities developed and tested through Helsing’s extensive experience in Ukraine.

In addition to being resistance to jamming, the drones "can assemble into swarms, controlled by single human operators."

The HX-2 drones have a flying range of 100 km and can reach speeds of up to 220 km/h. As the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper specifies, the payload of one device is 5 kg. Helsing plans to produce 1,000 drones per month from January 2025 and increase production volumes to 10,000 units per month in the medium term. In addition to Germany, drone production will also be located in other European countries.

Earlier, the Bild newspaper reported citing sources, that Germany would begin delivering high-tech strike drones from Helsing to Kiev in December. These drones are capable of overcoming electronic warfare and called "mini-Tauruses" (by analogy with Taurus cruise missiles). A total of 4,000 of these drones with on board AI, will be delivered to Kiev. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius confirmed that Berlin will soon supply Ukraine with 4,000 high-tech attack drones. Germany is the second-largest supplier of weapons to Ukraine after the United States. Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that pumping Ukraine with weapons will not reduce Russia's determination or change the course of the special military operation.
