Doctors Without Borders cannot contact their staff in Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza

According to Doctors Without Borders, the medical personnel, patients in critical condition and displaced persons are still inside Al-Shifa

GENEVA, November 12. /TASS/. Employees of Doctors Without Borders (MSF), who are working at Al-Shifa Hospital in the north of the Gaza Strips have been unreachable since last night, MSF said on Sunday.

"Since last night, MSF has not been able to contact its staff inside the hospital. Other MSF colleagues living in Gaza city reported that the hostilities around Al-Shifa have not stopped. We are worried for their lives," it wrote on its X (formerly known as Twitter) account.

According to Doctors Without Borders, the medical personnel, patients in critical condition and displaced persons are still inside Al-Shifa. The organization has called for a ceasefire and stopping attacks on hospitals.

It was reported on November 2 that the last 22 employees of Doctors Without Borders had left the Gaza Strip via the Rafah checkpoint on the border with Egypt. As many as 300 Palestinian employees of the organization and their families are staying in the Gaza Strip.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its operation as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and carried out air strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as some areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
