Key energy facility in Ternopol Region almost completely destroyed

Vyacheslav Negoda noted that a power shortage will remain in the region for a long time

MOSCOW, November 26. /TASS/. One of the power facilities supplying nearly all of western Ukraine’s Ternopol Region with electricity has been severely damaged, Vyacheslav Negoda, head of the regional city administration, reported.

"This is not simply a critical infrastructure site, but one of the key facilities in the region, providing electricity to practically the entire region <…> It was virtually destroyed," he said on the Rada television channel.

He added that a power shortage will remain in the region for a long time. "We have to make very serious technical decisions. There will be scheduled power activations and outages; this includes water as well," Negoda said.

In the Ternopol Region, an air alert was sounded at night, remaining active for almost five hours, with reports of air defenses operating. In the morning, the regional administration reported a critical infrastructure facility had been damaged. It was noted that Ternopol and its vicinity lack a stable power supply. Emergency power cutoffs are common in the region. Many water supply facilities in Ternopol are now powered by generators, and trolleybuses in the city have been replaced by buses.
