Turkey sends 10 planes with humanitarian aid for Palestine — Turkish president

Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that Ankara will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gazans

TASHKENT, November 9. /TASS/. Turkey has sent 10 planes with humanitarian aid for the residents of Palestine up to this point, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent.

"So far, we have shipped 10 plane loads of humanitarian aid materials exceeding 230 tons to El-Arish Airport with the support of our Egyptian brothers," Erdogan said, noting that Turkey will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Gazans.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said earlier on Thursday that he had reached an agreement with his Israeli counterpart to bring cancer-stricken children from Gaza to Turkey for treatment. According to him, they are scheduled to be brought in the near future.

Earlier, the minister said that his country could receive about 1,000 patients who need urgent treatment, especially cancer patients, from the Gaza Strip.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when Hamas militants staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
