Hamas says it shelled Israeli city of Be'er Sheva

The group did not say what effect the shelling made

CAIRO, October 23. /TASS/. The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, which is a military wing of Hamas, has said it shelled the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva with rockets.

The group said on Telegram the shelling was a retaliation to Israeli attacks on Palestinian civilians. It didn’t say what effect the shelling made.

The Israel Defense Forces earlier said air raid sirens sounded in Be'er Sheva.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas regards the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and has started delivering strikes on that area and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
