Death toll in Israel’s attacks on Gaza rises to 1,537 — health ministry

Another 6,612 were injured

CAIRO, October 13. /TASS/. The number of people, killed by Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 1,537, the Palestinian health ministry said on Thursday.

"A total of 1,537 people have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, 6,612 have been wounded," the ministry said in a statement.

The statement also says that 32 people were killed and over 600 injured in Israeli-Palestinian clashes in the West Bank.

Earlier in the day, a member of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that the enclave’s hospitals receive up to 1,000 patients every day. They suffer from wounds sustained as a result of Israel’s bombing and shelling attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when Palestinian militants from the Hamas movement attacked Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and carried out strikes on targets inside Lebanon and Syria. Hostilities have also broken out in the West Bank.
